Desert Voices to Continue the Hear for Kids Program
Desert Voices is honored to announce that it is assuming leadership of the Hear for Kids program, ensuring the continuation of this important resource for children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.
For the past 27 years, the Hear for Kids program has been led with exceptional dedication by Lylis Olsen through the Arizona Ear Foundation. Under her leadership, the program has helped countless children gain access to hearing healthcare resources, support, and opportunities that have made a lasting difference in their lives.
As the program transitions to Desert Voices, families can expect the same commitment to serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Desert Voices is dedicated to preserving the historical structure of the Hear for Kids program by issuing hearing aids and vouchers to participating audiology clinics.
Desert Voices has long been committed to empowering children who are deaf and hard of hearing through listening and spoken language education, family support, and community partnerships. Bringing Hear for Kids into the Desert Voices family aligns naturally with the organization's mission to help every child reach their fullest potential.
Desert Voices is also pleased to share that funding for the Hear for Kids program will continue to be provided by the Vitalyst Health Foundation, ensuring uninterrupted support for the children and families who rely on these services. Vitalyst Health Foundation is on a mission to inform, connect, and support efforts to improve the health of individuals and communities in Arizona. Over its history, the foundation has invested more than $134 million and established itself as a key thought leader, convener, and catalyst of key initiatives – ranging from statewide health policy and systems change to housing collaboratives. Desert Voices extends its sincere appreciation to Lylis Olsen, the Arizona Ear Foundation, and Vitalyst Health Foundation for their partnership and commitment to improving the lives of Arizona's children. We look forward to building on this strong foundation and continuing the Hear for Kids legacy for years to come.
